In light of an email I received from a member about a malicious PM she received from one of the recent spammer accounts before I banned the account, I have temporarily disabled account registration on this site. This will not interfere with existing users, or with accessed to the download section.

Once I have implemented additional security features to deal with these spam accounts, I will open up account registration once more.

Having finally managed to find the time, I have checked the entire member list of this site against the online spammer database that all new members are checked against, and removed any suspect accounts that returned positive hits.

In all cases, the member's username, email address, and last known IP address were checked. Since an IP address can be easily faked, and most people have a dynamically-assigned address anyway, any account where only the IP address was flagged remained ...... Read More
